On the Same Wavelength

Just to prove that my boy really is a total sweetheart, I had to share the fact that he brought home the first season of Grey's Anatomy from our local Vidéo Futur last night. Of course, I'll never be able to watch the whole season in one evening, but I'll give it my best try! After hearing (and reading) so much about it around the blogosphere, I just had to find out first-hand what the hype was all about -- but every time I went to rent the DVD, it was unavailable. So when he saw it on the shelf yesterday, he scooped it up in a jiffy. As a matter of fact, not realizing how many episodes there are on each DVD, he actually brought home both first-season DVDs -- that's a lot of Grey's Anatomy! Problem is, it will probably take me days to get through them, what with my hours spent at work, commuting, etc. Oh well, what's a few rental Euros?

Ironically enough, I was just in the FNAC near my office yesterday (many of you out there know exactly why! Tori - Tori - Tori...) and I was checking out the price on the DVD series. But 40€ seemed a bit steep, and I couldn't justify it. (So I bought a couple Nancy Huston novels instead... As if I need more books on my overloaded shelves at home!) Across town, my boy was thinking of me...

It's just a shame that I couldn't start watching the episodes last night; an unexpected dinner with friends and some former colleagues delayed my viewing pleasure... Now that's my kind of distraction! Things are looking up...

** UPDATE: Oh, I am so hooked! I watched seven episodes last night...

I adore Grey's Anatomy - it is highly addictive. When my friend lent me her first season dvd's, I watched them all in a few days - really that was all I did until 2 or 3am . Enjoy.

Yup - you're hooked. When you have them all you'll be hankering to get your hands on the next season. I have watched until halfway through season 2 and am dying to get the rest of it.

Oh no,one more show to watch. I'm stuck on Curb Your Enthusiasm and have Arrested Development to catch up with after that.

By the way, hope your trip to Spain was great but isn't it funny how it can be difficult to write up the good trips? Perhaps some kind of expectation of wanting to do justice to the place and the experience. But doldrums, annoying friends, flying soup and the writing just flows - I enjoyed the agony of it.

Oh yeah, Wendz, my eyes were glued to the screen all evening long... I had to drag myself to bed. And I knew the wake-up call was going to be tough this morning.

You hit the nail on the head, Little Fugitive -- that's exactly what I've been going through... Between the uncertainties of how to share the trip here (photos, technical details, etc.) and trying to do the trip justice with the right words, I've just been hesitating... Soon it will seem much too late to even bother! But I'm determined to put a nice post together, maybe this weekend.

Strangely enough, as I'm not in the habit of blogging about trips yet, I keep thinking of the things I saw in Spain that I WISH I had photographed for the blog! You know you're dealing with a novice when she realizes after the fact all the photo opportunities she missed...

I have been hearing about that show, that's a good idea to rent the dvd, can you watch it in english that way?

Absolutely, Meredith! I know a lot of people manage to find it on-line and download, but every time I've tried I haven't been able to get it to work right -- I'm not all that technically savvy, I think... So renting it was my solution. Just finished the last episodes of Season 1 tonight -- now I can't wait to rent Season 2!

A friend of mine lent me Lost Season 1 and I just KNOW that if I start watching that sucker, I'm never going to get any work done...

But I sooooo want to watch it... Hmm.

There's only about 8 episodes in the first season, isn't there? I felt totally gypped by that! (Or is it 12?) And season 2 is great up to a point then starts to get weird and season 3 has been all over the place for me. Last week's was good, though, so I'll keep going back. Except I can't stand Meredith.

I'm currently halfway through Season 2 of Arrested Development and just loving it, some real LOL moments. I'm aslo really enjoying Raines (a new show with Jeff Goldblum) and Brothers and Sisters, and anything else I can get my greedy little paws on. In the process of "obtaining" the last few seasons of West Wing. Sooo much better than Questions For A Champion!

I've heard so much about many other American shows, and I'm just afraid if I go there and start watching more, I'll never dig myself out of the hole! As it is, I want to keep going back and renting more Grey's DVDs -- I rented another one last night, first episodes of season 2, but you're right Gabrielle -- season 1 was only 9 episodes, super-short compared to how many there are in season 2! I couldn't believe it when I saw how many there are...

And I've heard that the show does get a bit "weird" over time. That's gotten me curious -- I definitely want to see what happens, but why do they always have to make shows get bizarre like that instead of staying realistic? UGH. Guess I'll see what happens...

I've only seen a couple of shows. Everyone in the States shure loves it. I'll have to rent them, I guess.
